Robbery in the toy shop

"Hey! Look at the teddy bear!", my younger sister squealed. We were in a toy heaven. Every row had different toys - teddy bears, sports equipment and even toy helicopters! My mom was greatly astounded. I could see her widened eyes. My sister was searching doll by doll for the perfect one. From baby to teenage dolls. Forget her! I took the biggest helicopter and put the box in the trolley. It was a double power K-SS7 heli. We bought the toys and quickly went out. I did want to play with the helicopter so badly. I was desperate. Sadly, we are in NEX Shopping mall, not in an open field where the air is free for take off. I followed mom towards the escalator. Suddenly, I heard a loud shrill voice breaking the low murmurs of the customers in the mall. I turned around in wonder and shock. In front of me at the counter of Toysrus, a woman in her late 50's was wearing a shocked expression on her frail looking face. A few paces in front of her, a man in his early 20's was spri...

Singapore in the future

Hi. Bernard here! and this is “FUTURE NEWS!”. World-renowned scientist Andy Tay had just invented the latest H0V0RB:ARD S6, a new version of the famous toy in town among kids and among adults too. This new version of this great product will be launched in Suntec City tomorrow before public. Please do not forget to attend this event at sharp 7pm in Suntec City Tower 4.  The next day... Andy woke up a bit early than usual. He was excited as usual as it was his latest version launching day. Andy felt a pang of guilt when he sipped his coffee. The H0V0RB:ARD was actually a great idea by his very close friend Vishuraban with whom he is working with for almost 20 years. Vishuraban is an Indian Scientist who opened the theory for air resistance. Air resistance, as found, goes against gravity. If powered up, it can allow you to fly without power. And he got the fame for launching it in Singapore. Vishuraban is fine with it, still Andy guilt feeling could not be helped. Slowly but stea...

Tsunami Experience

Whoosh!! Whoosh!! The breeze was making me feel right at home. It was cold and in perfect condition. I was at the Sunnyvale beach. This beach is named after a school Sunnyvale Primary which was built here long ago. Now, this beach was what left when the school was demolished, and new shops, pathways, benches were built. I was at the beach, swimming with my family when only to me it seemed like the wind was stronger, the trees started swaying harshly. I knew what it was! a Tsunami?! I read about it few days back in the news paper. Is it really hitting us here too? I panicked not knowing what to do. I came out of water and used my father's iPhone to call 999 for help. I screamed to my dad, mom and my precious brother to come out of the water. Unfortunately the Tsunami descended on us abruptly with a great sound. The waves were indestructible and enormous! They hit and drowned or pushed us away from our beloved ones. I was parted from my family. It took hours for me to realize wher...

Grim Reaper Hunted!

Image
It was 8:00pm in the early night of a Friday. Owls hooted as I came back from my tuition. "so eerie!" I thought to myself. I got to the steep street that brings me to my 2-story flat. We had a good flat except for the fact that there was a noisy building construction site nearby. My father did not like the house much but still bought it for some reason I don't know. As I was walking along the street tugging at my wheeled bag, I turned to take a look at the construction site. It was big, fenced and there was a note on the gate. "Beware!! A place for the next boring world. Do not step on free moving skeletons". I just could not stop my giggles. As I walked, I threw my sight once again towards the building site. I was screaming and running in seconds after as what I saw was something white moving behind the fence. Could that be a ghost?!! One week passed, I forgot my "ghost" encounter completely. I went out of my tuition as usual and walked towards h...
